Henry is 2 months old today!

Henry is two months old today! On Tuesday, Henry went in for his two month check up.  Henry weighed 13lbs. and measured 23 1/2 inches.  What a big boy! He also got 3 immunizations, 2 shots and 1 liquid.  Boy was he a trooper! He did such a great job and mommy didn't cry either;)  Currently, Henry is cooing more and more (he loves to talk to his mommy, daddy, his fishies and his butterflies), smiling with his cute little dimples (though they are hard to catch on film), holding his head up, laughing, and sucking on his fingers.  He is also starting to hold his keys and rattle and he loves bath time with daddy:)  Henry is a great sleeper too! He goes to bed between 8:30/9:30 and sleeps til 6 am:) Love my lil guy! To celebrate being two month old today,we went to visit great grandma Andrews for the first time.  We had a lot of fun meeting and playing with grandma!

Henry's First Trip - Port Austin, MI

Micheal and I took Henry on his first trip to Grandpa's cottage in Port Austin, MI.  We has a lot of fun together! On Friday, we visited the Flower Farm to pick out Henry's first pumpkin.  It was chilly, but we found a nice sized pumpkin for Henry and took some fall family photos. We also stopped at a local winery and sampled some local wines.  It wasn't Traverse City wine quality, but we picked up a white pinot noir.  On Saturday, Grandpa showed off baby Henry to his cottage friends.  Many people were up, closing up their cottages for the winter. Later we went to Janik's Orchard to get cider and donuts and found that they also had  a pumpkin patch. Henry wanted no part of the pumpkin patch though...he was getting hungry.  After we fed and changed him we were back on the road.  We decided to go to another orchard because Janik's didn't have caramel apples.  What's a visit to a cider mill without caramel apples??? We got the BEST caramel apples from Leipprandt's Orchard.  They were dipped in a thick, creamy caramel and rolled completely in nuts. Yum...they were delicious! After our orchard outings we went back to the cottage and hung out.  Grandpa cooked an awesome stew and Michael and I snuck out for a walk on the beach while Henry was napping.  Sunday, we took Henry for a walk down to the beach.  Henry truly enjoyed his first of many trips to Port Austin and grandpa's cottage:)

Leaving Henry for the First Time

What a crazy end to the week!  We have had so much going on the past few days.  Michael and I decided to have our first date night on Thursday. Grammy Matthews came over to watch Henry for us.  They had a great time despite Henry's fuzziness. Michael and I went to the Zoo Brew at the Detroit Zoo. We drank great brew, talked, followed the Tiger's game on our phones, and listened to the Howling Diablos.  Mike ventured out to visit the new Lion's den, while I stayed behind.  That day, I had hurt my back taking Henry out of the car in his car seat so I could barely walk.  Just my luck after I was all healed from Henry's birth, but I was determined to have a great night with my hubby and a great weekend with my brother celebrating his marriage to Makala.  So I iced it a lot and took Ibuprofen and made it through the long weekend.  On Friday, I went and got a mani/pedi with my mom.  My cousin Jessica came over to babysit Henry while we were gone. They had a great time playing.  Henry even tried to christen her while she changed his diaper! LOL:)  Later on that day, we went to Ronnie and Makala's rehearsal and dinner.  Henry was great all throughout the rehearsal and dinner.  Saturday ended up being a gorgeous day for my brother's wedding!  We had a fabulous day! In the morning my mother did my hair, then we left to go to the hotel to meet everyone and go to metro for pictures, next we had the wedding, and then it was off to the reception after more pictures.  Michael had Henry for most of the day, then his mother came over to watch Henry for the rest of the night.  All in all, Henry did great for all of his babysitters.  I hated leaving him, but I knew he was in great hands each time and that it is important for mommy and daddy to have some alone time once in awhile:)
Currently, Henry is starting to smile more, hold his head up for longer periods, and coo more. He also knows the difference between night and day.  Lately, he is not a great sleeper during the day, but he is awesome at night. Last night he slept from 9pm until 4am, which was great after the long day I had.  Wonder if this will be the new norm? We shall wait and see.  Michael and I can't wait to see what our little monkey will do next! Stay tune for future happenings...

Henry is 1 Month Today!

My lil monkey is one month old today! It seems like only yesterday we brought him home from the hospital. Where does the time go? Today, he went to see his pediatrician for his 1 month check up. He did an awesome job! He was so good:) He weighed in at 10 pounds and was 21 inches long.  He was only fussy after receiving his Hep B shot, but who wouldn't be after receiving a nasty shot. Currently, Henry likes to have staring contests; he will follow mommy and daddy with his eyes and the fish on his swing mobile; he is working on lifting and turning his head, though practicing this sometimes makes him angry; and he is starting to smile as well as coo.  Recently, we started giving him a bottle once a day to start preparing him for when we go out or when I go back to work. We also let Henry use a  pacifier, but most of the time he spits it right back out unless he's in a crazy sucking mood.

Henry's First Outing - Franklin Cider Mill

Mommy and daddy took Henry on his first official outing today to the Franklin Cider Mill.  We went early to beat the crowds. Mommy and daddy enjoyed some donuts, while Henry slept all cozy in his stroller. Later, we went for a walk around Quarton Lake Park in Birmingham.  It was so nice to get out and enjoy the beautiful fall day with my hubby and lil man.
